CASAL CATALÀ WASHINGTON, DC
Cordially Invites You to Our
Catalan National Day
September 11th, 2010

Family Barbeque Dinner at Rock Creek Park (12pm) and/or Classical Music Concert (7pm)

On the occasion of its National Day, the Catalan community in Washington, DC will hold a special event on Saturday, September 11th hosted by Casal Català (Catalan House).

September 11th was selected for The Catalan National Day as it commemorates the 1714 Siege of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession. Institutions and rights of the territories of the Crown of Aragon were abolished by the victorious Bourbon monarchy as punishment for their support to the claim of Habsburg Archduke Charles to the throne of Spain. In 1980, the restored Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia), as its first public act, proclaimed September 11th as La Diada, the Catalan National holiday.

On September 11th, the Casal Català de Washington, DC, invites the Catalan community and friends of Catalonia to join them for a family barbeque dinner which will be held at Rock Creek Park (NW, Washington, DC) at noon; and for a classical music concert which will perform pieces from famous Catalan composers, such as Albeniz, Monpou, Soler, among others.

We would like to request a RSVP for both, the dinner and the concert so that the Casal Català can make the appropriate arrangements and guarantee the spot at the Park and seating for all participants. We will send you soon more information with further details.

Please RSVP by September 3rd to Casal Català Washington, DC at casalcatalawdc@gmail.com
